5 minutes out of the package so I have no insight as to its performance. But holy smokes is it cheaply made. The unassuming blue plastic is extremely light weight; too light, actually. I also see no protection benefit from retracting the USB connector other than making the entire unit a little shorter than it would be otherwise; the end of the connector is equally exposed either way, to anything harmful. This thing may be a marvel from an electronic standpoint, but it's physically absolutely unimpressive. Oh, the slide/USB connector rattles when either in the extended or retracted position, so it's got that going for it too. All in all, I think perhaps one might carry a raw egg alongside this Verbatim drive to ensure gentle handling. 3-star rating simply because the unit is untested at this time; future edit probable.First of all, this is a 32GB unit. Secondly...It's several months later and I use this all the time. It's not exposed to harsh conditions so has worn well. I had it inserted into a computer sitting on the floor when I accidently kicked it. Yikes!!! The tip was now bent about 45 degrees and wouldn't slide back into the case. I took it apart (snaps apart easily-no glue) and found the port connector is soldered directly to the circuit board and was easily straightened out. Nothing cracked or broken. Cool! My original complaint of the blue plastic case being flimsy hasn't changed, but what I would like to make clear is the internals of this unit is solid as a rock. Everything is on a circuit board about 1/2"x1" with all surface-mount components. I believe the guts could just be wrapped up in electrical tape and it would work just fine. Don't know about cooling though... Anyway, I snapped it back together and it's working normally. WOW! I guess if I now have anything negative to say about this drive it's that even though it's physically solid, it's pretty slow functionally. If you're copying GB-sized files it will take several minutes, then a couple more. I generally use it for Portable Firefox and my password utility and sometimes to transfer small files, so its slowness isn't a big detractor to me. I'm actually thinking about getting a couple more. Recommended...
