I bought this new on Amazon. The recliner's bonded leather upholstery lasted about 7 years with light usage. All other parts of the chair remain fully functional. I never did like the limited range of the recliner as shown in the pictures. It just didn't recline far enough for me. I did like the wooden base. It's a shame that a better upholstery covering wasn't used.Chairs become important as one ages.I wanted a comfortable chair in this style in a material other than leather (I'm newly vegan). I gave this one a go.The chair is guite supportive in the cushion & I lke that as my other similarly styled chair is softer & deeper (but leather).The issues I have with the chair & ottoman is that the reclying is very limited & the pedestals are too small which causes both to tip a bit easily.I'm keeping the chair as an alternative in the way of stiffness when I need or want that.I am deeply unsatisfied with this chair. After reading the reviews I thought this would be the chair I was looking for. I am 70 years old and 4'10'' with lower back issues. This chair sets very low to the floor and even I have a hard time getting out of it. I have been looking for a while to replace a small swivel rocker recliner with no luck. I am definitely disappointed as this chair was $500 dollarsFirst, I'll say that I looked all over to find a suitable office chair since I work from home. I found this and was elated to finally have a decent chair to use.It arrived yesterday, and the box was banged up a fair bit; smushed and caving in, the top nearly torn open, etc.(The box clearly had a "Fragile" sticker on it aswell) I thought "Well, it's all metal, mahogany and cushion, it should be fine." I took it out, nothing looked scuffed or torn, so I figured it was ok.I put it all together which took no real effort or time. However, as I sat down and was testing it out at my desk; I noticed it kept 'catching' when I swiveled; I figured it was some sort of lever or 'catch' that I could lock or unlock; but I didn't find anything so I laid the chair on it's side and noticed the damage in the picture provided. I looked all over my floor for the pieces, but didn't find anything.(I'm always extremely delicate when I'm putting together furniture of any kind, because you never know how fragile some things are).So I go back to the box, and there they were, in the big plastic wrapping that was still in the box.So now I have an office chair that I need, a box that's too damaged to re-use to send it back; it's already put together; and kinda pissed that I have no way to return this or get a refund.(EDIT: I contacted Amazon support and they offered a partial refund, which should atleast cover me being able to fix the swivel/make a new one on my own.)I don't care whether it got damaged in transit or from sitting in Amazon's warehouse(I bought this through Amazon, not a third party); I feel this item should be replaced without having to send back the original; or atleast getting a replacement swivel for the bottom.Also, the glaring flaw; everything on this chair is mahogany or metal; why would the WEIGHT bearing swivel on the bottom be PLASTIC?Great chair! It is reasonably easy to install but if you have large hands it may be difficult to get the bolts through the hinges where the back of the chair joins the seat. I got it done and we love the finished product. Great chair and I recommend it.I was a little concerned about making this purchase after reading the negative comments but went ahead anyway and took the chance. As far as attracting animal hair, lint etc. I would agree with the other reviewers that it could be a problem. This is not really an issue for me as occasional (once a week) vacuuming clears off the lint and I have no pets. Kind of makes one wonder if animal hair is such a problem on the chair, it probably is a problem in the rest of the house as well…they probably just can’t see it. For me, being a dirt/hair magnet is not an issue unless, of course, you are averse to occasional vacuuming.I am a male 6’ and 190lbs and the chair seems to be sturdy and quite comfortable for me. The chair foam padding is firm and not overly soft or cushy (just the way I like it). The micro fiber material is quite soft and I hope as durable as any other micro fiber. Assembly was not very difficult but the directions were cryptic and appeared compiled by an Egyptian pharaoh. But one can figure it out.Bottom line is that I would recommend it.This is perhaps the worst piece of furniture I have ever purchased. The assembly is virtually impossible. Attaching the armrests is extremely difficult. To make matters worse, the armrest does not fit around the lever for the reclining mechanism, and to make it fit, the handle broke off. I am pretty good at assembly, but this one is by far, the worst case of engineering I have ever seen. Amazon wants me to contact the manufacturer, which of course, is not available on weekends. HUGE MISTAKE!!!!!!!I've had a form of this chair for over 15+ years.. I just love the style and sturdiness of this Recliner w/Ottoman!! I use it with a mobile desk to sit/work at my computer for hours. I do add an extra seat cushion & butt pillow.. as I have a back/coccyx issue and I'll add a link to the ONLY butt pillow that has ever helped me sit longer than 1 hour at a time!!My Wish List.. the chair is 21" wide and I wish they'd have a 24" version for bigger people (6' 2" & 230lbs),also, the height to the top of the seat is 13" (so I add 3" office wheels to the base to accommodate my long legs),and a bit more padding would make this a perfect recliner/lounger but for $219 it's still a great buy!!I absolutely love Amazon Prime w/their 2 day delivery and No hidden shipping cost/fee's as many do.. which, I've had to pay in the past. Special thanks to Flash Furniture.. at 1st I was informed it would not arrive until Monday via Prime (weekend +1 day) but I got a surprise on Saturday and I was sitting in my comfy chair by Sat. night!! :)The best back/coccyx seat cushion that goes great w/this chair:It took several months to arrive but was informed about the back order. If I had a chance to try it out before I bought I wouldn't have bought it.I find the chair gets uncomfortable about 15 of sitting.Reçut le bois un peu craqueléWe like it a lot!... very comfortable... personally think it looks really nice in the living room for which matches our decor!Nice quality and simple and durable recliner mechanism. I'm happy with itcame with a cracked wooden support,the arms are almost imposible to line up,and screw in.not good
