Second UPDATE: I had a VERY bad experience with another popular vendor of recliners hoping to get a replacement for this chair. My worries about how this popular vendor does business is why I bought this chair from Amazon in the first place. They confirmed my worries with a vengeance. So, I turned this chair over to see what I could do about that torturous bar in the small of my back. I found that it isn't attached to much and doesn't have much purpose. Since is is attached only by nails, I worked it out with a hammer and threw the torture-bar away. The chair is now very worn out and saggy, but, with a memory-foam wedge that I added to the top of the seat, the chair is tolerably comfortable and no longer causes me pain. So, given the options between the furniture-stores who refuse to cancel orders until their salesmen rake me over the coals, cheap-but-disposable big-box furniture, and Amazon who compensated me, I'm content with Amazon. The chair is far, far from perfect, but I can trust Amazon much more than the others.... what the world has come to, eh?UPDATE: I've reduced my rating to two stars because the chair was great the first time I sat in it, but it soon wore out. As others have mentioned, there is an uncomfortable bar of wood where the back and seat of the chair meet. After the cushioning begins to wear in, that bar in the small of your back is all you can feel. I've tried stuffing pillows around the bar, which helps, but that doesn't help enough.Plus, there was a problem with the delivery of the chair. Amazon promises to deliver to the front door of your unit. My unit/apartment is on the second floor and the sole delivery driver would not take the package farther than the front door of the building. Luckily, the chair comes in two pieces, so I managed. Amazon did refund $75 for the problem, which I appreciated. However, that bar is a pain in my back every day, literally. The size is still nice, though, and it is better than my Ikea Poang. I will use the chair until I can afford something else, but I won't buy from Amazon.ORIGINAL REVIEW: I am about 6'4" and of average proportions. This is the only recliner in which I have ever sat where I can lean my head back and actually have support. I could sleep in this chair easily ... and I might. :) I am overweight but not morbidly obese, so I cannot comment on whether the chair is suited for extra-wide people, but other comments seem to support that it would. All I can say is that it isn't flimsy and there is room for my cat on either side (a very important feature!). Also, the seat sits higher off the floor than any other chair I have ever seen. It is very good for the average tall person like me.Regarding comments about getting the footrest to come out: don't push back on the back of the chair. First, pull the lever (my chair has more of a lever/button) firmly, but don't rip it off. The footrest will then come out. Then you can push back and recline the rest of the way.Oh yeah - perfect lower back support in all positions!I don't normally write reviews, but first let me say this chair is huge and very comfortable. My 6'6" 350 lb. husband fits in it without his head or his feet hanging off, which was the determining factor in purchasing this chair. First off, like other reviewers I ordered the grey color and received the sage green color. When it arrived, the box it came in was pretty beat up but the chair was ok. As it was a Father's Day gift and it still matched my other furniture, I didn't return it. This chair is enormous and takes up a lot of space in our living room even when it's upright. I purchased the chair in June and it was only used a few times until October when my husband had surgery and needed to sleep in it. One month later, I noticed the backrest was twisted and there was a 6" gap on one side when the chair was upright. The staples had pulled out of the side of the interior frame and my son had to dismantle the chair to screw it back together.Pros:ComfortableRoomy for big & tall personLengthEasy to assembleCons:Received wrong colorPoorly constructedFootrest is difficult to closeVery largeOverall, I would not recommend this purchase. With the frame falling apart after one month, I don't expect this chair to last very long. They absolutely shipped the wrong color. That, or Pewter looks nothing like the color I selected/or shown in their photos. The color I received was some kind of dark green. For that I should have given one star, but it was a gift, delivered to the house on their birthday, so I couldn't exactly send it back. The chair itself is padded and comfortable. We'll see how long it lasts. Appears to be pretty sturdy. I am going to contact the company about the color debacle, though. Thankfully the green color sort of matches the interior, but the lighter pewter would have been a lot better, considering the amount I just spent, they could at least have sent the right one.Very good chair - but. I bought so that after some major surgery, I will use it to sleep in for a while. I should have got a chair with a handle to lift and lower the footrest as the footrest is way too stiff and the only way it can be set down is to get out of the chair and then using a cane to push the bottom in. I may actually return it as after a hip replacement I can see big problems with this.Ok I'm going to try to do this quickly. The recliner or should I say the chair came 6 DAYS before it was supposed to so I wasn't ready, for it. I had planned on vacuuming and cleaning the rug. Anyway I got rid of the old recliner and brought the new box in and it seemed LIGHT. It said 130.lbs when I ordered it. Well when I opened the box the bottom of the recliner or as I have said the CHAIR was all I received. I.plan to write a follow-up because AMAZON has always been great and this is my first time having trouble like this. So I called customer service and they are going to get back to me in a couple of days and let me know what the status is on the rest of the recliner. This wasn't AMAZON fault it was the person who packed it and sent it out. I walk with a cane and I have trouble standing for a long time, so this is a Problem.I don't know why the color description makes it sound like it's green - it is a rich brown color. This is definitely a good chair for tall people and your feet don't touch the ground if you're shorter - I am 5'8" and my feet hang when the footrest is down. That's fine - this was bought for my dad and he loves it!The only concern I have is that my dad is elderly and the footrest doesn't stay up for him. This must have something to do with his body posture/strength as no one else has this problem. We just put a stool under it for him.
