I read Enthusiasm Makes the Difference and absolutely loved it! I felt like it was one of THE best books I had ever read, because it is so true. Enthusiasm does make the difference. This book helped me with my marriage, and it helped me start to revitalize my life. I bought 6 copies so that every one of my kids could read this book. I love how the author brings in the importance of bringing God into our lives. I love the stories he includes about how, when people did bring Christ into their lives, they were healed of problems that had been plaguing them. This book not only talks about how we should act with each other, but it talks about spiritual enthusiasm and how having faith in Christ and the fact that Christ and Heavenly Father care about our individual lives, can turn our lives around and heal us. I love how he encourages the reader to think of some positive or religious saying to be repeated every day and night, and encourages thankfulness and positive thinking. I think this book is a must read for everybody, but especially for those who are struggling with their lives.Beverly KingsfordI became interested in this book when a documentary on President Trump mentioned Presbyterian minister Norman Vincent Peale was his childhood pastor in NYC. He spoke highly of him. The book is bound in a manner expected for books from the mid to late 20th century. Very sturdy. I was expecting the typical 1950s prosperity theology or self help books that were popular around that era. To my surprise it is really a lot more about dealing with stress from a Christian perspective. Not just trust God and do nothing, but to do what can be done and have faith. It is heavily peppered with Bible verses. You learn to trust yourself and trust God. It really typifies the "Hardy" personality type that is key for people in high stress situations. This man was clearly the precursor of the modern motivational pastors. He does a very good job of it.This review is for "The Power of Positive Thinking." Though I have heard of the book for my entire life (I am well past 60), I must say that it is better than I expected. This is really an easy-to-approach introduction to experiencing God in your daily life. What is best is that, unlike other self-help type books, the examples are quite believable and do-able. Plus it offers suggestions that anyone can adopt. Without seeming trite, I think of this book as a handbook to a relationship with God. It makes making God the focus and cornerstone of your life a realistic endeavor. It is practical Christianity that mirrors the God-centered life as Christ himself describes it in the book of John.I purchased this book because at some point I realized that I needed an attitude adjustment. More often than not I was the one getting in my own way. Tasks that were supposed to be simple became very challenging because I did not apply the right attitude to my work. Relationships that were highly valued became like chores. I can confidently say that since purchasing this book, my quality of life and everyday interactions with friends, family, even strangers has improved. We dont have to be victims of those unpleasant circumstances around us, we can always choose how to receive a situation. Its truly all in the attitude guys, buy this book. The first of the self-help books and the pioneer of self-awareness and the improvement of life using God and principle as a method to do it. Dr. Peale is also a far better writer than he is given credit for and proves most of the self-help industry that followed far beneath his standards. He writes for the benefit of humanity, not his bank account, Fortunately, he is in paperback and goes easily with you. Thankfully, time and culture have not changed his message.I bought this book for my wife. When, and if, it has been read in full, my review will be offered.Everyone must read these three books by the late Dr. Peale. Positive Thinking is transformative. You can not do everything with positive thinking but what you can do you'll do it much much better."The Power of Positive Thinking" by Vincent Peale is an oldie but greatie!!! This book is Christian based, includes biblical scriptures and stories of how people overcame their lack of confidence by applying those scriptures. It's not just about confidence, but your life. It is easy and interesting to read. If you do get this book, it is helpful to take notes as you are reading. You will be surprised how powerful and uplifting those notes will be later when you reference them again - kind of a boost in condensed version. If you are an atheist, you will not benefit from this book. If you are agnostic, this book could change your life in a big and wonderful way.Three great books, what a bargain! Norman Vincent Peale's books have been an inspiration to me. They are filled with practical faith-based advice which for me, has really worked.I think the two reviews you show, one very positive the other sceptical and somewhat dismissive, do go to show something of a dicotomy. The author was the pastor of a famous Christian church and his teaching and advice is faith based. As a christian, I can appreciate that those who have difficulties with this faith may struggle to chime with his views and his teaching. However unless people are determindly atheist/agnostic in their beliefs, I feel there are great lessons in these books.ExcellentokBook arrived - great condition. Thanks so much!i need it . it's really impressive book which can help you you be positive thinker n optimistic. So buy it please.
