Here’s a polished version of your review:As a professional wedding photographer, I know the importance of having a pop of flash in certain situations. However, my Canon R5 lacks a built-in pop-up flash, so I’ve always had to carry a bulky speedlight just in case I needed extra light. While effective, it’s not always practical when I want to travel light and just take my camera out for casual use.Since I’ve been a longtime user of Godox speedlights, I decided to try the Godox iM30, and I have to say, I’m pleasantly surprised by its performance.I took this portable flash with me to Thanksgiving, where my family inevitably asked me to take some photos. It worked beautifully! While I wouldn’t expect it to replace a full-size speedlight, it’s a remarkably powerful little flash that provides excellent fill light. One of my favorite features is how compact it is—I can toss it into my pocket or a small camera bag without adding significant weight.Another great feature is that it takes regular batteries, which makes it super convenient if I need replacements on the go. While it uses AAA batteries instead of AA, I think this choice contributes to its compact size, so it’s a trade-off I’m happy to make.In terms of build quality, the iM30 feels solid and well-constructed—exactly what I’d expect from a Godox product. Even at its affordable price point, it has impressive durability. It also features a sync cord port and an optical trigger, which opens up some fun possibilities. Although I currently own just one unit, it’s exciting to think about experimenting with multiple flashes using the optical slave feature.The flash is fully manual and universal, meaning it works with any camera that has a hot shoe with a center pin. I tested it on a few of my other cameras with pop-up flashes, and the iM30 outperformed them both in power and in producing a more evenly spread light.Overall, this is a fantastic addition to my smaller camera bag. It’s not a replacement for a full-size speedlight, but it’s an excellent compact solution for casual shooting or situations where you need just a bit of extra light. Highly recommended!
