I was looking for an all metal and affordable umbrella mount and this one appeared to fill those shoes. Upon arrive I was very impressed with the build quality. The parts are all very well made and appear durable. Upon inserting the umbrella, the product fails miserably. First the hole is drilled level with the cold shoe when they are supposed to be drilled at an angle upward so the flash is aimed down into the center of the umbrella. So that might be tolerable if the mount held the umbrella level, but there is so much slack in it, that the umbrella sags down almost as far as it should be slanted upward. So the flash is aimed at the top third of my umbrella with plenty of light spilling. Maybe an umbrella with a larger diameter post would fit better, but for my equipment this isn't going to work. Keep looking.
