I guess I don't remember what I was expecting with this bracket when I originally put it on my wish list to buy later, but I had it in my head that these would be cheap-o plastic for the $10 price tag. Boy was I wrong. You could knock out a medium sized person if you put this in a tube sock! It's a nice sturdy metal bracket from top to bottom with exception of the adjustment knobs. The bottom knob unscrews to reveal an adjustable mounting adapter that will fit 1/4" or 3/8" mounts. The top cold shoe mount loosens and tightens acting like a clamp to keep your flash unit secure. The middle knob loosens to allow you to adjust the angle of the flash/umbrella.This is my first foray into light modification aside from basic diffusers, and I absolutely love the effects I get with both a white shoot through umbrella, as well as the silver reflective umbrella. These brackets are so handy, I'm glad I bought two. I'd highly recommend these to anyone looking for a nice quality budget friendly bracket.
